One of the good things of working for big companies is that sometimes you get to enjoy their goods for free... Thanks to an online events management system we coded for Hertz at Pretty, as sponsors of Wimbledon 2010 they gave us one-day entry tickets.
I'm not really a fan of tennis (or strawberries), but I'm glad I went because I had the chance to finally play with my new camera: the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS, the "contemporary Leica" as some people have called it. Its abillity to capture action shots from a long distance is unbelievable for the money I bought it for, let alone its speed and colour quality.

Some good camera shots from the games. I blame the slight fuzziness on the dirty lens and not the camera itself.
I finally remembered again how much I love taking photographs... I'll try and get some more stuff online soon, I've already set up a new Flickr account.

I don't know if it's because of laziness or because they're busy but if you look at programmers' blogs you'll see that they usually post once every 3 months or so. I hope I won't end up like this... I mean there's no excuse, especially after the end of this month when I'll be saying goodbye to full-time employment.

I've just been on a 3 week holiday in Cuba. Even before I left I was quite interested on what's the internet situation there as there were a lot of opinions about censorship, restrictions etc.
From my short stay I saw that internet is expensive and some times access is impossible, especially in small cities. But despite what I read, I was also informed that many Cubans have internet at home or are financially able to go online using public computers. They do have email and sometimes facebook or online dating accounts. Also even if the governement has internet control centres to monitor usage and restrict access to "anti-revolutionary" website content, there are so many online resources that it's practically impossible to control. And as far as software is consered, despite the "socialistic" open-source technology I expected, windows OS was used in the police station I visited (I had to go cause I lost my camera - that's why there's no photo on this post).
All the rest remains a huge and very interesting debate [comment 65 and upwards].
